Composer William Price To Speak & Present Music At St. Lawrence

CANTON - Award-winning composer William Price will give a talk and participate in an electronic music presentation at St. Lawrence University.

On Monday, March 15, Price will give a talk entitled "Composition, Creativity and the Concerns of the Professional Composer," at 8 p.m. in the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery. The talk, which is geared for a general audience, is open to the public, free of charge and is supported by the Birdsong Endowment for Music.

On Tuesday, March 16, at 8 p.m. in the Underground, E.J. Noble University Center, Price and Assistant Professor of Music Christopher Watts will present a co-curated concert of electronic music, with a theme of "crossover between the worlds of experimental music and dance music." It includes both audio-only and multimedia works, by a wide range of artists.

Price is assistant professor of music theory at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and president of the Birmingham Art Music Alliance. A prolific composer, Price's work has been performed at concerts and festivals across the U.S. and around the world. The recipient of numerous awards, he was recently honored by the Music Teachers National Association with the Shepherd Distinguished Composer Award.
