WHITTIER RETURNING TO ST. LAWRENCE STAFF

CANTON - Canton native Andrew J. Whittier has been named director of 
major gifts at St. Lawrence University. He will begin his new 
position in December of this year.
	A 1991 graduate of St. Lawrence, Whittier has been director 
of the annual fund at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, since 
1997. Prior to that, he worked at St. Lawrence, as assistant director 
of annual giving (1994-1997), assistant director of admissions 
(1993-1994), admissions counselor (1992) and assistant director of 
alumni relations (1992).
	As director of major gifts at the University, Whittier will 
be responsible for working with individuals capable of making 
significant donations to St. Lawrence. He will work primarily with donors from the 
New York City/metro region, and will manage the major gifts and donor
relations staff of seven.
