Presenting information and research are:
- Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Kenneth R. Weiss, lead writer of the five-day Los Angeles Times series entitled "Altered Oceans" that was published in 2006. The series won national and international awards, and Weiss has received many other awards, including being named Journalist of the Year by the Los Angeles Press Club and the Carl Sagan Award for Public Understanding of Science by the Council of Scientific Society Presidents. Weiss spent six years in Washington, D.C., as a correspondent for newspapers owned by the New York Times and as a reporter for States News Service.
- Environmental journalist Frank Clifford, former environmental editor at the Los Angeles Times, where he directed the "Altered Oceans" series. Clifford has written extensively about environmental issues in the American West and is the author of The Backbone of the World: A Portrait of the Vanishing West Along the Continental Divide.
- St. Lawrence Associate Professor of Biology Brad Baldwin, who studies and teaches community ecology, population ecology, and the effects of environmental factors on aquatic
invertebrates and fish. He has examined the biology and ecological impact of invasive species
such as zebra mussels and round gobies, both of which have devastated many North American lakes and rivers. In the Caribbean, Baldwin works on the restoration and conservation of coral reef organisms such as sea urchins, queen conch, spiny lobster and the Nassau grouper.
The Contemporary Issues Forum brings experts and participants in the making of news to campus throughout the academic year.
