WAL-MART FILM TO BE SHOWN AT ST. LAWRENCE
CANTON - A new film by Robert Greenwald, Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, will
be shown at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium
of Hepburn Hall, Room 218; it will be followed by a discussion, with audience members and a
panel. The event is open to the public, free of charge.
Greenwald is the director of the controversial documentary Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's
War on Journalism. Publicity states that Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price "takes you
behind the glitz and into the real lives of workers and their families, business owners
and their communities, in an extraordinary journey that will challenge the way you think,
feel... and shop." Prior to its release, the film has been the subject of widespread
media coverage, especially Wal-Mart's public relations efforts to counter claims made
in the film.
Screenings are being held around the country in churches, community buildings and at
colleges and universities; it is also being shown in Potsdam, Plattsburgh and Saranac
Lake in the North Country.
