CANADIAN SCHOLAR TO GIVE LECTURE AT SLU

CANTON - Rinaldo Walcott, an associate professor in the humanities 
division of York University in Toronto, will give a lecture at 
St. Lawrence University on Wednesday, October 3, at 8 p.m. in the 
Hepburn Auditorium titled "What's Love Got To Do With It: The Impossible 
Dream of Black Canadian Studies and Other Ghostly Matters." The event 
is open to the public, free of charge.
	A sociologist, Walcott has written on a wide array of topics, 
including education, black Canadians, gender studies, rap and hip-hop. 
He is the author of Black Like Who?: Writing, Black, Canada and is the 
editor of Rude: Contemporary Black Cultural Criticism. 
	Walcott will be in residence at St. Lawrence October 2 through 4, 
visiting classes and meeting with faculty and students.
