CANADIAN AUTHOR TO VISIT ST. LAWRENCE

CANTON - Aritha van Herk, one of Canada's leading writers, 
will read from her recent work in a presentation at St. Lawrence 
University on Monday, March 22, at 8 p.m. in Herring-Cole. The 
event is open to the public, free of charge.
	van Herk's novels include Restlessness (1998), No Fixed 
Address: An Amorous Journey (1986), The Tent Peg (1981) and Judith 
(1978). She has also published two collections of essays, In Visible 
Ink: Cryptofictions (1991) and A Frozen Tongue (1992), as well as 
1990's Places Far From Ellesmere which merges the fiction, autobiography 
and literary criticism genres.
	She is a professor of literature and creative writing at the 
University of Calgary, Alberta.
