St. Lawrence On U.S. News List Of Most Popular Liberal Arts Colleges
CANTON - St. Lawrence University is listed among the most popular liberal arts colleges in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report.
One of the best indicators of a school's popularity among students is the school's yield, the percentage of applicants accepted by a college who end up enrolling at that institution in the fall. The magazine's website compiled tables from the fall 2010 entering class and show the students that were accepted, the students that enrolled and the yield.
It highlights the most popular National Liberal Arts Colleges, which are schools that place an emphasis on undergraduate education and award at least 50 percent of their degrees in the liberal arts.
For the fall 2010 entering class - the Class of 2014 - the listing shows that St. Lawrence accepted 1,887 students, with 609 enrolling, for a yield of 32.3 percent.
In the annual U.S. News & World Report ranking of national liberal arts colleges, St. Lawrence University is Number 53 among the 252 best, most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the nation. That ranking places the University in the top 20 percent of its peer group.
