SLU's University Chorus Membership Open To Community
CANTON - The University Chorus, combining the vocal talents of students, faculty, staff and community neighbors, welcomes new members for the coming academic year.
The group performs a varied repertoire, often with orchestral accompaniment. This fall, they will prepare for a concert titled "Oh, Canada," with music by and about Canadians. The program will include Iroquois chants, Quebecois dances, folk songs from British Columbia and original compositions for concert hall and church, as well as selections from some of Canada's best-known popular songwriters, such as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Gordon Lightfoot.
Rehearsals for the University Chorus take place on Tuesdays, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 15 of Griffiths Arts Center on campus; the first rehearsal is Tuesday, August 30. Performance dates for the fall semester are November 13 for the "Oh, Canada" concert and December 7 for the University's Candlelight Service. Both will be held in Gunnison Memorial Chapel.
