Varied Program Planned For University Chorus Holiday Concert
CANTON - "Christmas New and Old" is the theme of the University Chorus concert,
to be performed on Saturday, December 8, at 8 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial
Chapel at St. Lawrence University. It is open to the public, free of charge.
The University Chorus is directed by Tammara Madeja; Kathleen Hubbard is accompanist.
The program features "Christmas Cantata," by Daniel Pinkham, which blends
contemporary and Renaissance styles; a fugue setting of Handel's "Hallelujah
Amen"; two chorales from Bach's Christmas Oratorio; three Latvian Carols; "Wana
Bararka," a Kenyan religious song; "Wolcum Yole," from Benjamin Britten's "A
Ceremony of Carols"; and "Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind," from "When Icicles
Hang," by John Rutter.
