University Chorus Plans 'Sacred Haydn' Concerts
CANTON - Two works by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) will be performed in
concerts titled "Sacred Haydn" by the University Chorus, on Saturday,
April 12, at 8 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel at St. Lawrence University
and Sunday, April 13, 2 p.m. in St. Mary's Church in Canton. Both
are open to the public, free of charge.
The University Chorus is directed by Barry Torres; Barbara Phillips-Farley
is accompanist. These performances feature guest artist and Crane School
of Music faculty member Jill Pearon, soprano, and an orchestra consisting
of members of the SLU String Orchestra and music department faculty.
Works to be performed are Salve Regina, Hob. XXIIIb:1; and
Missa in Angustiis (Mass in Troubled Times), "Lord Nelson,", Hob.XXII:11.
