20th-CENTURY CHRISTMAS OFFERED BY UNIVERSITY CHORUS

CANTON - The University Chorus will perform music from a 20th-century Christmas in concerts on Saturday, December 2, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 3, at 2 p.m., both in Gunnison Memorial Chapel at St. Lawrence University. The concerts are open to the public, free of charge.

The 60-voice choir will be joined by a brass and percussion ensemble, including faculty from St. Lawrence and the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, plus members of the area community.

Gloria, by John Rutter, is featured on the program, along with Franz Biebel's Ave Maria, Benjamin Britten's A Hymn to the Virgin and other selections from the 20th century.

The University Chorus is directed by Barry Torres; Barbara Phillips-Farley is accompanist.
