AUDITIONS TO BE HELD FOR UNIVERSITY CHORUS

CANTON -- The University Chorus is holding auditions for the 
upcoming season, starting now and continuing through September 8. 
Under the direction of Barry Torres, the chorus is sponsored by the 
music department at St. Lawrence University and draws its members 
from the entire North Country community.
	Two very different works on the same theme make up this 
year's repertoire. Maurice Duruflé's Requiem, to be performed with 
a chamber orchestra, will be featured in fall concerts on November 
11 and 12, and A German Requiem by Johannes Brahms, sung in English, 
will be presented in the spring. The chorus also takes part in the 
annual Candlelight Service held in December in Gunnison Memorial Chapel.
	Regular rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the 
chapel, and begin on September 5.
