SPIRENT COMMUNICATIONS EXEC ELECTED SLU TRUSTEE

CANTON - W. Barry Phelps, executive vice president of Spirent 
Communications, in Calabasas, California, has been elected to a 
six-year term on the Board of Trustees of St. Lawrence University, 
effective July 1. Phelps, of Thousand Oaks, California, is a 
1969 graduate of St. Lawrence.
	He has more than 23 years of experience in financial and 
business management for high-technology companies. Previously, 
Phelps served as president of Spirent Communications' Performance 
Analysis Solutions division, president and CEO of Spirent 
Communications' SmartBits business unit and chairman and CEO of 
MICOM Communications, a division of Nortel. A mathematics major 
and member of Sigma Chi fraternity at St. Lawrence, Phelps holds 
an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester.
