SLU WRITERS SERIES WRAPS UP YEAR WITH TRUDY LEWIS
CANTON - St. Lawrence University Viebranz Visiting Professor of Creative Writing
Trudy Lewis will give the final presentation of this year's Writers Series, on
Thursday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The
event is open to the public, free of charge.
Lewis is the author of a short-story collection, The Bones of Garbo (Ohio State
University Press, 2003), for which she was awarded the Sandstone Prize in Short
Fiction, and a novel, Private Correspondences (Northwestern University Press, 1994),
winner of the William Goyen Award for Fiction. Her work has appeared in Atlantic
Monthly, Best American Short Stories, Chelsea, Fence, Five Points, Iris, Meridian,
New England Review, New Stories from the South, Third Coast, Witness and other
publications. Her story "Geographic Tongue" received the Lawrence Foundation Award
from Prairie Schooner. Lewis is currently at work on a historical novel about
19th-century factory operatives in Lowell, Massachusetts.
