1963 March On Washington Recalled In SLU Gallery Exhibition
CANTON - An exhibition of 48 photographs by Stanley Tretick, "And Freedom for All: The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom," will be on exhibition in the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery at St. Lawrence University from January 18 through March 25.
The march, led by Martin Luther King Jr., drew some 250,000 people and, at the time, was the largest demonstration ever seen in the nation's capital. Tretick's photographs depict organizers and speakers, including King, as well as President John F. Kennedy meeting in the Oval Office with march leaders.
