NATIVE AMERICAN MUSICIAN FEATURED AT SLU-HOSTED CAREER EVENT

CANTON -- The Northern New York CSTEP (Collegiate Science and Technology 
Entry Program) Network will hold a career exploration symposium at 
St. Lawrence University on Saturday, March 31. Participating institutions 
are St. Lawrence, Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam.
	The public keynote address for the event will be given at 1 p.m. 
in Eben Holden by Darryl Tonemah, of Phoenix, Arizona, a Kiowa/Comanche/Tuscarora 
native. He holds bachelor's degrees in psychology, sociology and gerontology, 
as well as a master's degree in community counseling and a Ph.D. in counseling 
psychology and cultural studies. Tonemah works as an actor and musician, and 
also works extensively on youth-empowerment issues.
	He has appeared in the films DMZ and The Last of the Mohicans and has 
recorded several CDs that have been nominated for Native American Music 
Awards.	CSTEP is a New York State Education Department initiative designed 
to provide services to students from underrepresented populations who are 
seeking careers in the sciences, mathematics, technological fields and the
