Appearance By Thomas McGuane Wraps Up St. Lawrence Writers Series
CANTON - Novelist and nature writer Thomas McGuane will speak and read from recent work in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Wednesday, April 22, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, the final one in the 2008-2009 Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
McGuane is the author of nine novels, among them The Cadence of Grass, Panama, Ninety-Two in the Shade, Nothing But Blue Skies and The Bushwhacked Piano. His most recent story collection is Gallatin Canyon, published in 2006. Although he is perhaps best known for his fiction, McGuane is also the author of three essay collections about the outdoors, and he has written for the screen and for numerous magazines and newspapers. The Wall Street Journal published an article by McGuane on March 27, 2009, about hunting, titled "A Novelist Takes Aim." He lives in Montana, where many of his novels and stories are set.
