SLU WRITERS SERIES HOSTS THOMAS LYNCH NOV. 10
CANTON - Poet and essayist Thomas Lynch will speak and read from recent works in an
appearance at St. Lawrence University on Friday, November 10, at 8 p.m. in the
Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, part of the University's Writers
Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
Lynch's most recent book, released in 2005, is Booking Passage: We Irish and
Americans. His poetry collections include Skating with Heather Grace, Grimalkin &
Other Poems and Still Life in Milford. Lynch, who is also a funeral director of
the Lynch & Sons Funeral Home in Milford, Michigan, won the American Book Award
for his first book of nonfiction, The Undertaking, which also won the Heartland
Prize for nonfiction and was a finalist for the National Book Award. He is
regularly featured on the op-ed page of The New York Times, The Boston Globe
and The Times of London, as well as in the pages of Harper's. He has appeared
on C-SPAN, MSNBC, NBC's "Today" show and the PBS series "On Our Own Terms."
