ROBERT THACKER VOTED TOP PROF AT SLU

CANTON - Professor of Canadian Studies Robert Thacker has been 
voted by the Class of 2002 at St. Lawrence University as the 
Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Member. The award is the 
only faculty award chosen by students.
	Thacker will deliver a "last lecture" to the class 
on Monday, May 13, at 4:30 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel. 
Following the lecture, the senior class will host the "Last 
Bells," a final playing of the chapel's Bacheller Memorial 
Chimes, and a barbeque on the quad.
	A faculty member at St. Lawrence since 1983, Thacker 
is a graduate of Bowling Green State University, with a 
master's degree from the University of Waterloo and the Ph.D. 
from the University of Manitoba. He is an expert on Canadian 
culture, especially literature, and has written extensively 
on the work of authors Willa Cather and Alice Munro. Thacker 
is the executive secretary and treasurer of the Western 
Literature Association and former editor of The American 
Review of Canadian Studies.
