FACULTY AT ST. LAWRENCE AWARDED TENURE, PROMOTIONS

CANTON – St. Lawrence University gave special recognition to several faculty members 
at Convocation ceremonies held on campus August 23, noting the awarding of tenure 
and several promotions.
      Faculty entered on continuing tenure are Associate Professor of English 
Robert D. Cowser; Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures Ilia 
Casanova-Marengo; Associate Professor of Government Karl K. Schonberg; and 
Associate Professor of Biology Joseph S. Erlichman.
	Professor of Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics Duncan J. Melville's 
promotion, to the rank of full professor, was also recognized at Convocation.
	The annual Convocation ceremony marks the official beginning of the academic 
year at the University, and features the First Lecture. The lecturer is chosen by 
vote of the faculty and staff at St. Lawrence and this year was given by Professor 
of English Eve W. Stoddard.
