'TALENTED JUNIORS' AT 14 SCHOOLS COMPLETE SLU PROGRAM

CANTON - Juniors at 14 area high schools explored topics ranging from ancient Indian poetry to calculus in a special program at St. Lawrence University this fall.

The students participated in the Talented Juniors Program, designed to offer enrichment courses on subjects that may not be addressed in the high school curriculum. The classes are taught on Saturday mornings by St. Lawrence University faculty. This year, 67 students completed the program for certification.

Classes taught were Music and American History; An Introduction to Networks and Graph Theory; What is Calculus About?; Conflict and Cooperation on the World Stage; and Poetry of the Interior: The Classical Love Poetry of Ancient India.

Students completing the 2005 Talented Juniors Program:
- Brushton-Moira Central School: Evan Charlebois, Jeffery Esslinger, Kayla Fletcher, Leigh LeBrasseur, Emily McAdam and James Russell.
- Hugh C. Williams High School (Canton): Braden Antle, Levi Busch, Haley Feickert, Lindsay Hill, Benjamin LaFirst, Leah Manders and Shawntel Randi.
- Clifton-Fine Central School: Russell Martin, Emily Popham and Karine Russell.
- Colton-Pierrepont Central School: Caleb Campbell, Nathan Campbell, Stephanie Collins, Jordan Hennessy, Erika Stone, Jennifer Thomas and Hanna Widrick.
- Edwards-Knox Central School: Ryan Davis, Emily Gault, Tracy Hogle and Bridgette McGraw.
