Author Steve Almond At St. Lawrence September 29
CANTON - Author Steve Almond will speak and read from recent work in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday, September 29, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, part of the University's Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
Almond is the author of two story collections, My Life in Heavy Metal and The Evil B.B. Chow; the novel Which Brings Me to You (with Julianna Baggott); and the non-fiction book Candyfreak. Of his most recent book, Not That You Asked: Rants, Exploits, and Obsessions, Kirkus Reviews writes, "Whether bemoaning the inanity of reality television, justifying his love for the cheese-metal band Tesla or good-naturedly ragging on Oprah Winfrey, he scores big in every chapter."
The series continues with Scott Russell Sanders, October 20; Nathaniel Mackey, November 10; Antonya Nelson, February 25; Christian Bök, March 18; Gerald Early, April 8; and Richard Rubin, April 22.
