SLU GALLERY EXHIBITS 3D PHOTOGRAPHS

CANTON - "Stereo Still: 3D Photographs from Ron Labbe" will be on
exhibition in the Richard F. Brush Gallery at St. Lawrence
University from August 19 through September 21. On Tuesday,
September 17, at 8 p.m. in Room 123 of the Griffiths Arts Center,
Labbe will present "Stereo Still Live," an overview of dimensional
imaging in 3D, including the Antique (1850-1938), View-Master
(1939-present), 3D Boom (1950's) and Modern Stereo (contemporary) eras.
Labbe graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and
now operates Studio 3D, in Maynard, Massachusetts. Studio 3D
provides a comprehensive range of digital, video, and still
3D-imaging services. According to Labbe, "My bio might include
having worked on many of the famous 'Magic Eye' (got the guy
who started it interested in 3D), the 2000 Sports Illustrated
3D swimsuit edition... and 3D slide-shows for museums." In
addition, he has been collecting stereo imagery, including
turn-of-the-century stereocards, View-Master and 1950's amateur
stereo slides for over 20 years.
