St. Lawrence Listed Among New York's Best Colleges
The periodical Buffalo Business First included St. Lawrence University in its listing of Elite 10 Upstate New York colleges and universities.
Buffalo Business First analyzed the statistical profiles of all 23 undergraduate colleges (two-year and four-year) within the eight counties of Western New York, as well as all 45 four-year colleges in the rest of Upstate New York. Instead of ranking the schools, the journal opted to isolate the 10 Upstate schools that fared the best on three measures of educational performance: selectivity, student retention and graduation rates.
With a selective admissions criteria, a retention rate of nearly 90 percent and a graduation rate of 87 percent, St. Lawrence earned a seat in the periodical's Elite 10. In addition to those criteria, nearly 97 percent of recent St. Lawrence University graduates were either employed or attending graduate school less than one year after graduation.
