CANTON-ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY RACE WEEKEND UPDATE

CANTON – The 2nd annual Canton-St. Lawrence University Race Weekend was held 
on Saturday, April 30.  The day included the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Marathon, 
the St. Lawrence University Half-Marathon and the Wellness Initiative 5K.  
A total of 177 runners participated and over 100 area citizens and St. Lawrence 
University students volunteered on a cool and rainy North Country day.  
Runners from the local area, Canada, and from as far away as Texas and Florida 
participated.  One runner from Florida used the day to complete his 193rd marathon.
	Congratulations to all the runners and walkers who completed events.  
The overall winners of the three races are listed below.  A complete list of age 
group winners and finishing times can be found on the Race Weekend

Marathon
Female: Angeline Ross, Long Lake, 3:41: 47
Male: Jason Schreer, Potsdam, 3:00:25

Half-Marathon
Female: Nancy Morrison, Kanata, Ontario, 1:35:36
Male: Jonathan Kent, Canton,	1:23:02

5K
Female: Wendy Berner, Canton, 21:39
Male: Will Siegfried, Potsdam, 21:12

	Profits from race day will go to support the St. Lawrence Valley Renewal 
House for Victims of Family Violence and Camp Sunshine.  Watch for an 
upcoming report on how much will be donated to each of these groups.
	The race planning committee would like to thank all the runners, volunteers  
and race sponsors.  An event like this does not happen without a large number of 
people coming together to work toward a common goal.  Whether you volunteered on 
race day, ran or walked in one of the events, were an event sponsor, or came out 
and cheered on the participants – Thank You for taking part in the day.
	Next year's event is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 – Mark your calendars today.
