JULIE SILVER APPOINTED TO SLU POST

CANTON - Julie M. Silver, of 28 Judson Street, Canton, has been 
appointed to the position of director of advancement services at 
St. Lawrence University. She begins her duties February 8.
	Silver is a 1989 graduate of St. Lawrence, and is working 
toward a master's degree in library science and information at 
SUNY Buffalo. Since January of 1998, she has been working with the 
North Country Reference and Research Resources Council in Canton 
on a project providing technical assistance in digitizing archival 
text and images for publication on the Internet. From 1994 to 1998, 
Silver worked for Lexis Law Publishing in Rochester, tracking 
legislation for the United States Code Service, and from 1991 to 1993, 
she was a special projects editor with the National Archives and 
Records Administration in Washington, D.C.
	In her new position with the University, Silver will be responsible 
for the advancement services office, which supports St. Lawrence's 
fund-raising efforts. Research, bookkeeping and records maintenance 
are included in the office's activities.
