WILLIAM SHORT APPOINTED HEOP DIRECTOR AT SLU

CANTON - William J. Short, of Canton, has been appointed director 
of the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) at St. Lawrence 
University. Short has served as interim director of HEOP since June 
of 2001, and was associate director prior to that, beginning in 1998.
	Short holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from SUNY 
Potsdam. Prior to joining the staff at St. Lawrence, he was program 
planning and development specialist with the St. Lawrence-Lewis Board 
of Cooperative Educational Services, adult and continuing education, 
in Norwood. He has also been the coordinator for comprehensive youth 
programs and the New Ventures Program coordinator for Norwood BOCES.
	HEOP is a New York State-funded program that provides assistance 
with academic advising; career, financial and personal counseling; and 
tutoring for students who are educationally and economically disadvantaged.
