ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES TOPIC FOR ECONOMIST AT SLU

CANTON -- Todd Sandler, professor of economics and political science 
at Iowa State University, will speak on the topic of "Global 
Environmental Challenges" on Thursday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in 
Room 123 of the Griffiths Arts Center at St. Lawrence University.
	The event is open to the public, free of charge.
	Among Sandler's many publications is the book Global 
Challenges : An Approach to Environmental, Political, and Economic 
Problems, which analyzes a broad range of global challenges, including 
global warming, ozone shield depletion, acid rain, nuclear waste disposal, 
revolution dispersion, international terrorism, disease eradication, 
population growth, tropical deforestation, and peacemaking. He has a 
broad range of research interests, including public economics, environmental 
economics, defense and peace economics, economic development and 
international relations.
	The day after his talk at St. Lawrence, Sandler will lead a 
seminar at the Clarkson University School of Business, sponsored by 
both St. Lawrence and Clarkson, on "Alliance Formation, Expansion and 
the Core."
