SCIENCE & RELIGION EXPLORED IN SLU LECTURE

CANTON -- The first annual Niles Memorial Lecture on Science 
and Religion will be given at St. Lawrence University on the 
topic "Can A Darwinian Be A Christian?"
	The lecture, by Michael Ruse, a professor at the University 
of Guelph, will be on Monday, October 4, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 10 of 
Carnegie Hall. It is open to the public, free of charge.
	Ruse is the founding editor of the journal Biology and 
Philosophy and the author of many texts, including Mystery of 
Mysteries: Is Evolution a Social Construction? and the forthcoming 
Can a Darwinian be a Christian? The Relationship between Science 
and Religion. He is editor of the Cambridge University Press series 
in the philosophy of biology and frequently appears on television 
and radio, discussing science and religion. Ruse was also a witness 
for the American Civil Liberties Union in the successful overturning 
of a "creation science law" in Arkansas in 1981.
