AUTHOR ROBERT ROOT IN SLU'S WRITERS SERIES
CANTON - Author Robert Root will speak and read from recent works in an appearance
at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, September 20, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room
of Sykes Residence Hall on campus. The event, part of the University's Writers
Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
Root is the author of the historical memoir Recovering Ruth: A Biographer's Tale;
Working at Writing; E.B. White: The Emergence of an Essayist; and a textbook,
Wordsmithery. He edited the recent anthology Landscapes With Figures: The
Nonfiction of Place, and is co-editor of The Fourth Genre: Contemporary
Writers of/on Creative Nonfiction and Those Who Do Can: Teachers Writing,
Writers Teaching. A recipient of the 2006 Donald Murray Prize for Best
Essay on Teaching and/or Writing, Root is an editor of the creative nonfiction
journal, Fourth Genre. While at St. Lawrence, he will visit students
participating in the University's semester of study in the Adirondacks.
