Nature Writer Robert Finch At SLU November 4

CANTON - Robert Finch, one of America's leading nature writers, will speak and read from recent work in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, November 4, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, part of the University's Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.

Finch has lived on Cape Cod since 1971. Seven books of his essays have been published, and his work has appeared in numerous magazines and journals, been widely anthologized and been translated into Japanese and Chinese. He was named a New England Literary Light for 1999 by the Associates of the Boston Public Library, and in 2001 he received the Non-Fiction Award from the New England Booksellers Association. Finch produces weekly radio commentaries for WCAI, a National Public Radio affiliate in Boston, and in 2005, he received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for Radio Writing. He has been editor of The Cape Naturalist, and has received several awards for his work in conservation and land preservation.

North Country Public Radio will feature Finch in its "Readers & Writers On the Air" program on Wednesday, November 3, at 7 p.m.
