RANDALL HILL VOTED TOP PROF BY SLU CLASS OF 2007
CANTON - St. Lawrence University Associate Professor of Performance and Communication
Arts Randall T. Hill was the recipient of this year's Owen D. Young Outstanding
Faculty Award, as voted by members of the senior class. The award is the only one
given to faculty that is chosen by students.
The winner of the award gives a "last lecture" during the week prior to
Commencement. Hill's was titled "A Wish, A Little Advice and a Prayer."
A member of the University faculty since 1991, Hill earned his bachelor's
and master's degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
and the Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
In addition to teaching courses in the performance and communication arts
department, Hill is the coordinator of St. Lawrence's Native American
studies program. He is working on two books, one on an 1864 massacre by
U.S. Cavalry troops of a Native American village, and the other a
collection of personal narratives from his tribe, the Lumbee Band of
the Cheraw Nation.
