A List 5/20/02 ALUMNI REUNION WEEKEND AT SLU MAY 30-JUNE 2 CANTON - A variety of educational, recreational and social events are planned for Alumni Reunion Weekend at St. Lawrence University, May 30 through June 2. Over 1,000 people are expected to attend. Seminars with University faculty, staff and alumni are planned throughout the weekend, in addition to campus tours, a talk by President Daniel F. Sullivan, trips to area attractions and the traditional Parade of Classes. A highlight of the schedule is the dedication of Creasy Way, the area that spans the University's athletic facilities, from Park Street to the outdoor tennis courts, and from Leckonby Stadium to the Newell Field House and new fitness center. It was made possible by a gift from Class of 1952 graduate William N. Creasy Jr., of Greenwich, Connecticut. The plaque that will mark the site states, "St. Lawrence friendships last a lifetime, both those with classmates and with members of the North Country community. Creasy Way honors those valued friendships, most notably with Jack Leonard '44, Moose Levato '42, Paul Patten '48, and Billy Walsh '44." The dedication will take place on Saturday, June 1, at 3:30 p.m. Also on Saturday, Alumni Citations will be awarded to: - Peter P. Griswold '52, of Okemos, Michigan, for 40 years of leadership in rehabilitation services in Michigan and throughout the nation. - Kevin J. Arquit '75, of Harrison, New York, the pre-eminent anti-trust attorney in the country. - Betsy J. Bernard '77, of Morristown, New Jersey, the chief executive officer of AT&T's consumer phone business. - John T. Major '77, of Schenectady, New York, chief of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Bureau of Wildlife. Jeffrey G. Meilman '65, of Buffalo, New York, will receive the Sol Feinstone Award for Humanitarian Service. Meilman, a physician, is the founder of the Hope for Tomorrow Foundation, which sponsors free surgeries for deformed and injured children around the world.-30- Back To News Releases Back to St. Lawrence Homepage
