Pianist/Organist Randall Atcheson To Perform At St. Lawrence

CANTON - Randall Atcheson will give a piano recital at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, January 22, at 8 p.m. in the Underground, E.J. Noble University Center. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

Atcheson began playing the piano at the age of six, and by the time he was 12, he was enrolled at Samford University School of Music in Alabama on a piano and organ scholarship. He later transferred to New York's famed Julliard School of Music, where he became the only student to receive simultaneous degrees in piano and organ. Atcheson won the first Julliard Organ Competition, and subsequently gave the premiere solo performance on the new pipe organ at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.

After his debut at Carnegie Hall in 1991, Atcheson was added to the distinguished international roster of Steinway artists. His successful recording career includes 16 albums featuring classical music as well as his unique arrangements of sacred and popular music. He has performed on five continents in world-famous venues, including nine concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and a 2005 inauguration dinner attended by President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.
