RAMSAY APPOINTED TO MUNSIL PROFESSORSHIP AT SLU

CANTON - St. Lawrence University President Daniel F. Sullivan has 
announced the appointment of Professor of Government J. Ansil Ramsay 
as Charles D., Sarah and John D. Munsil Professor of Government. The 
appointment was approved by the Board of Trustees at its May meeting.
	Ramsay joined the St. Lawrence faculty in 1970. He is a graduate 
of Florida State University, and earned the Ph.D. at Cornell University. 
He is an expert on the government and economy of Southeast Asia, particularly 
Thailand, and has been awarded a number of grants to conduct research 
there. In 1984, he was the recipient of a Fulbright grant to study economic 
difficulties in Southeast Asia. Ramsay is the author of several books on 
related topics.
	The Munsil Professorship was established in 1995, through a bequest 
of John Munsil, Class of 1925, and is awarded to a professor of government. 
It had been held by Professor Emeritus Robert N. Wells Jr., who retired 
in May.
