SLU OFFERS FREE CLASSES IN CHI KUNG (QIGONG)

CANTON – A free beginner-level class in Chinese Qigong is offered at St. Lawrence
University, open to the community.
Classes will be held each Monday, beginning September 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
On September 27, November 8 and November 15, classes will be in the lounge of
Dean-Eaton; all remaining classes will be in Herring-Cole. The instructor is
Andrea Malik.
Qigong is simple and easily learned; it is appropriate for all ages and
levels of fitness. It incorporates gentle, graceful, flowing movements, with an
emphasis on proper breathing, posture and relaxation. Regular practice is said to
enhance circulation and respiration, and help balance the forces of "yin" and
"yang." Each class will be a complete Qigong workout, including warm-ups.
Malik has been training in the martial arts for over 23 years and is
affiliated with the Zen-do Kai Martial Arts Association.
