THOMAS PYNCHON NAMED ASSOCIATE V.P. AT SLU

CANTON - St. Lawrence University Vice President for Advancement 
Michael P. Archibald has announced the appointment of Thomas R. 
Pynchon, of Canton, to the position of associate vice president 
for development, effective immediately.
	Pynchon has been director of planned giving at the University 
since 1992. A graduate of the University of Vermont, he worked at 
his alma mater for 10 years, acquiring significant management 
experience in planned giving, major gifts, annual giving, alumni 
relations and development research. At St. Lawrence, he has worked 
to increase the awareness and visibility of the G. Atwood Manley 
Society, whose members have included the University in their 
wills or have made a planned gift to St. Lawrence. 
	Pynchon has also established the University's Committee on 
Planned Giving, a cadre of dedicated planned giving volunteers and 
donors. In his new position, he will assist Archibald in the 
oversight of the successful completion of Campaign St. Lawrence at 
the end of this year. He will have responsibility for the offices 
of alumni and parent programs; advancement services and planned 
giving, in addition to his continuing work with donors.
