Professor, Chaplain Receive State Recognition Award

A St. Lawrence University professor and staff member were awarded a New York State Department of Health Commissioner’s Special Recognition Award on World AIDS Day.

R. Danielle Egan, professor and chair of Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Kathleen Buckley, university chaplain, received the award for the work their work on the SAFE Project for the past two years. The Saints Activists for Equity (SAFE) grant is helping to create a webpage on St. Lawrence’s website dedicated to LGBTQ resources.

Buckley received the award in Albany on Dec. 1. Egan was unable to attend because she was out of the country at the time of the award.
