HORNUNG TO GIVE PISKOR LECTURE AT SLU

CANTON -- The relationship between nasal anatomy and olfactory
ability is the topic for the 2001 Frank P. Piskor Faculty Lecture
at St. Lawrence University, to be given Monday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m.
in Herring-Cole by Dana Professor of Biology David E. Hornung.
"How the Nose Knows: The Relationship between Human Nasal Anatomy
and Olfactory Ability" is open to the public, free of charge.
Hornung, a member of the St. Lawrence faculty since 1969,
earned his bachelor's degree from Geneva College, his master's degree
from Kent State University and the Ph.D. from the SUNY Health Science
Center in Syracuse. He has done extensive research on the senses
of taste and smell, and is also on the faculty of the SUNY Health
Science Center in Syracuse, where he is a researcher.
The Piskor Faculty Lectureship was established in 1979 to
encourage original and continued research among St. Lawrence faculty
members, to recognize and honor distinguished scholarship and to
afford the opportunity for faculty to share their learning with the
academic community. The 2002 lecturer will be named at the event.
