SLU PROF'S PUBLICATION OF TWO BOOKS CELEBRATED

CANTON -- The Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries 
at St. Lawrence University will celebrate the publication of two 
new books by Assistant Professor of Philosophy Caroline Picart 
with a reception on Friday, March 3, at 4 p.m. in Owen D. Young 
Library.
	Picart will give a presentation on the books at the event; 
the reception will follow. Both are open to the public.
	Resentment and the 'Feminine' in Nietzche's Politico-Aesthetics 
and Thomas Mann & Frederick Nietzche: Eroticism, Death, Music and 
Laughter, both by Picart, were recently published.
	Picart joined the St. Lawrence faculty in the fall of 1999 and 
is a former molecular embryologist educated in the Philippines, England, 
and the U.S.  In 1989, she accepted Cambridge University's Sir Run Run Shaw 
International Fellowship and changed her academic focuse from 
neuro-embryology to the philosophy of science. After a year as a teacher 
of English and ballroom dance and as a professional artist in South Korea, 
she earned her Ph.D. in philosophy with doctoral minors in comparative 
literature, and aesthetics and criticism, at the Pennsylvania State 
University.  Previously, she was an assistant professor of philosophy at 
the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire.
