EARLY MUSIC HIGHLIGHTS SLU SENIOR'S RECITAL

CANTON – Rachel Peterson, a St. Lawrence University senior from King
of Prussia, Pennsylvania, will perform in a recital on Sunday, March
28, at 2 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel that brings together French
and philosophy (her major fields of study), European studies (her minor
field of study) and early music, one of her great interests. The event
is open to the public, free of charge.
"Songs of Guillaume DuFay" is the theme of the recital, which
features soprano Peterson with an ensemble of campus musicians. Peterson
has performed with the Early Music Ensemble (Players and Singers) on
campus since her first year, and studied in the University's program in
Rouen, France, in 2002.
DuFay (1400-1474) was a Renaissance composer who wrote church music
and numerous court songs for both voices and instruments. He is considered
by many to be the greatest composer of the 15th century.
Peterson is also a member of the String Ensemble at St. Lawrence,
and the Singing Sinners, a women's a cappella group. She is also a member
of Chi Omega sorority and Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership
honorary.
