SLU STUDENTS GIVE PRESENTATION ON EXPERIENCES IN MID-EAST

CANTON – St. Lawrence University seniors Kelly O'Ryan and Brian Lind will
give a presentation on their experiences traveling and working in the West
Bank and Gaza Strip in the summer of 2003, titled "Fragments from Palestine:
A Tribute to Those We Left Behind," on Tuesday, March 2, at 7 p.m. in the
auditorium of Hepburn Hall on campus, Room 218. The event is open to the
public, free of charge.
O'Ryan, of Clarkston, Michigan, and Lind, of Delmar, New York, were
awarded a grant from the Fred H. Kahrs '59 Endowment for Global Studies to
spend the summer living in Ramallah and take courses in Arabic at Birzeit
University. Over the course of the summer, the two also traveled extensively
throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, learning about human rights and
the situation of Palestinians living there. In addition, they worked with
Israeli, Palestinian and international peace activists on collaborative
demonstrations against the construction of a 400-mile wall inside the
West Bank.
Their presentation will include photographs and narratives about
their experiences.
Lind is a global studies/environmental studies major; O'Ryan is
