‘Noon in the Chapel’ to Honor Black History Month at St. Lawrence
CANTON – St. Lawrence University is celebrating Black History Month at the “Noon in the Chapel” musical event later this month.
The hour-long performance on Friday, February 22, will feature African-American Spirituals set by Hall Johnson, Edward Boatner, William Grant Still, H.T. Burleigh and an Organ Suite based on Spirituals by Sharon Willis. The event begins at 12:15 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel and is open to the public, free of charge. The audience is encouraged to bring a lunch to enjoy while listening.
The University’s musician-in-residence Sondra Goldsmith Proctor, as well as Ad Hoc Singers Julia Pomainville and Alexandra Jacobs Wilke, will perform.
Parking will be available in the lot adjacent to the Chapel.
