African-American Music Theme For Noon Organ Concert At SLU Feb. 24
CANTON - "Honoring African-American Music," featuring familiar spirituals and other compositions, will be performed at the lunch hour in St. Lawrence University's Gunnison Memorial Chapel, featuring Musician-in-Residence Sondra Goldsmith Proctor and the Ad Hoc Singers, at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, February 24. The event is open to the public, free of charge, and parking is available adjacent to the chapel.
Those attending are encouraged to bring their lunch to eat while enjoying the music.
The performance includes Impromptus by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, organ; a concert spiritual; and
Suite on Afro-American Tunes by Charles Callahan, for organ. The Ad Hoc Singers are Alexandra Jacobs, Peter Jensen-Moulton, Lansing Laraway, Julia Pomainville and Laura Ramsey.
