'NOISES OFF' IS SLU FALL PRODUCTION

CANTON - Noises Off, a comedy by Michael Frayn, will be performed
in St. Lawrence University's Gulick Theatre Wednesday, October 31,
through Saturday, November 3, at 8 p.m. each evening. Performances
are free, but tickets are required; call (315) 229-5748 for ticket
information.
The production is directed by N. J. Stanley, visiting assistant
professor of theatre. Scenic design is by guest designer Molly Eness;
costume designs are by guest designer Robbie Stanton; and lighting
design and technical direction is by John Larrance.
According to Stanley, "Noises Off is a high-flying,
fast-paced comedy about a second-rate acting company touring a
trashy British sex farce. Since this is a play-within-a-play,
many of the cast members perform two roles: their roles as American
actors and their characters in the British play. This is physical
comedy at its best. The production is filled with every cheap
theatre gag ever written, and then the playwright adds a few more
for good measure."
She adds, "This zany, crazy comedy is a laugh riot and
sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Much of the humor in Noises Off does
rely on some hilarious sexual innuendo and absurd adult situations,
so it is therefore recommended for mature audiences."
