IRISH AUTHOR NUALA NI DHOMHNAILL IN SLU WRITERS SERIES

CANTON – Poet Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill will speak and read from her works in an
appearance at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday, March 23, at 8 p.m. in
Eben Holden, part of the University's Writers Series.
Ni Dhomhnaill, one of Ireland's foremost poets writing in the Irish
language, is the author of several collections of poetry, as well as several
children's plays and screenplays. Her work evokes the older forms, fable and
idioms of Ireland, while dealing with the commodity culture, psychology and
"Eurospeak" of the contemporary world. She lives in Dublin and has taught at
University College, Cork, and at Boston College, where she was the Burns
Scholar in Irish Studies. In addition, Ni Dhomhnaill is the contemporary
poetry editor of the Field Day Anthology of Irish Writing, Volume Four.
