POET NICK CARBÓ IN SLU WRITERS SERIES
CANTON - Poet Nick Carbó will speak and read from recent works in an appearance at
St. Lawrence University on Thursday, March 8, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes
Residence Hall. The event, part of the St. Lawrence Writers Series, is open to the public,
free of charge.
Carbó is the author of the poetry collections Andalusian Dawn, El Grupo McDonald's
and Secret Asian Man, which won the Asian American Literary Award. He has edited
several anthologies, including Returning a Borrowed Tongue: An Anthology of Filipino
and Filipino American Poetry and Babaylan: An Anthology of Filipina and
Filipina-American Writers. Carbó has been awarded grants from the
National Endowment for the Arts and New York Foundation for the Arts, and his
poems have been featured in the PBS television show ""Heritage" and National
Public Radio's "Intersections."
