North Country Symposium At St. Lawrence April 1-2
CANTON - St. Lawrence University will host the 7th Annual North Country Symposium on Wednesday, April 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in Eben Holden Conference Center on campus. Participants may choose to attend either or both sessions.
The symposium is sponsored by the University's Ellen C. Burt '42 Endowment and participation by regional government, business, education, planning and environmental organizations is welcome. This year's theme is "Opportunities for Sustainable Growth in Today's Economy."
The keynote speaker is Jeff Yost, president and CEO of the Nebraska Community Foundation, a nationally recognized model for strengthening rural economies. The organization has secured and reinvested over $60 million since its inception in 1993 to strengthen small communities throughout Nebraska. Local leaders will present information about the impact of the economic crisis in the region, and time will be allotted for participants to meet as action/research teams to make plans for the coming year.
Individuals interested in participating in the free event may contact Coordinator Doug Welch, at 315-229-5631, or find registration materials on the symposium Web site, www.northcountrysymposium.org.
