CANTON - A panel of speakers representing the United States,
Canada and Mexico will discuss "Lessons from NAFTA" (the North
American Free Trade Agreement) in an event at St. Lawrence
University on Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in Bloomer Auditorium,
Brown Hall. The discussion is open to the public, free of charge.
Speakers are, from Mexico, Victor Quintana, a former member
of the Mexican congress and an advisor to the Frente Democrático
Campesino de Chihuahua, a member organization of the Mexican
coalition El Campo No Aguanta Más; from the United States, Tara
Colon, organizer for the Kensington Welfare Rights Union in
Philadelphia; and from Canada, Donalda Macdonald, president of
the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
The speakers will discuss the impacts of NAFTA that have
been felt in the 10 years since the signing of the agreement as
well as the grassroots movements that are under way in the three
