Music Ensembles Accepting New Members for Fall
CANTON — The St. Lawrence University Music Department ensembles are accepting new members for the fall semester.
The ensembles offer an eclectic mix of music making opportunities for students, faculty, staff and members of the local community.
University Chorus performs a varied repertoire often with instrumental accompaniment. This fall, the chorus will sing several hymns and chorales, such as “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing," and "The Navy Hymn” in their original a cappella form along with arrangements. University Chorus also sings at the Annual Candlelight Service.

String Orchestra consists of violins, violas, cellos and basses. Their focus is to perform a diverse assortment of repertoire featuring different musical styles, including classical, baroque, traditional/folk, contemporary and popular music. Performances will be held both on and off campus.

Wind Ensemble is for brass, percussion and woodwind players. Fall 2013 will explore the “Charleston” as well as George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris” and Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride!”
